yoga studio notes and guidelines
How to Choose a Class: Choose a time that is convenient for you and make yoga a regular part of your life. Each class has its own
personality. If a class does not suit you, please try another.
Dress & Etiquette: Wear comfortable clothing: bicycling shorts, tights or leggings, and t-shirts. Please no baggy pants - they inhibit the teacher's ability to spot misalignments. Please remove shoes and turn off cell phones before entering the studio. If you have any physical problems, please inform the instructor before class begins.
Registration Information: On your first visit, please arrive ten minutes before class to fill out a registration form. All classes are ongoing. We accept new students at any time.
Arriving Late: Please arrive on time. If you cannot avoid being late, please sit silently in the lobby until 15 minutes after the start time of the class before entering the studio. When you enter, come in quietly.
Mat Matters BYOM (bring your own mat!): For hygiene reasons, we recommend that you invest in your own mat. Mats and other props are available for purchase at the studio. Mats may also be rented for $2 per class.
Please leave all cell phones & pagers outside the yoga room. If you bring your phone into class, inevitably the day will come that you forget to turn it off. We understand that emergency situations may arise so please let the teacher know if you are expecting a call and then put your phone and/or pager on vibrate.
Remove your shoes before entering the yoga room to keep the floor clean. As well as honoring the Eastern tradition of removing your shoes, you help keep the floor you'll soon be practicing on clean.
To ensure your safety and longevity of your practice: Alert the teacher to any injuries prior to class starting. This will help the teacher know how to adjust you or give you a modification if necessary.
Attention to detail is often the gateway into the depths and richness of our experiences. Yoga, more than being a series of physical poses, is a state of mind and heart. It is respect for the space and people around you. Thank you for observing our guidelines. Have a wonderful class.
